How to ask someone where people, objects or places are
“Kei hea?” is used to ask someone where an object is or where a person or people are. If a person asks you this, they will begin with “Kei hea..?”
Hei tauira:
a Kei hea tō kāinga?
Where is your home?
e Kei hea a Te Hererīpene?
Where is Te Hererīpene?
i Kei hea ō hoa?
Where are your friends?
Possible answers to these questions:
a Kei Te Whanga-nui-a-Tara taku kāinga.
My home is in Wellington.
e Kei Tāmaki-makau-rau ia.
She is in Auckland.
i Kei Ōtepoti rātou.
They are in Dunedin.
