He whakamārama

Ngā Tohutohu

In the Te wāhanga tuatahi of Te Whanake 1 Te Kākano you will have encountered the words taku (my – one thing), (your – one thing), tana (his/her – one thing). With each of these words only one person is involved in the ownership and only one thing is owned, for example, tō kurī (your dog).

When more than one thing is owned the ‘t’ is omitted from these words, i.e. aku (my – more than one thing), ō (your – more than one thing) and ana (his/her – more than one thing). For example, ō hoa (your friends).

Tuhia ngā kupu e tika ana mō ngā mea e ngaro ana i ēnei kōrerorero.
The following exercise practises the use of these words.

Ko Hana: Tēnā koe, e hoa.
