Ngā Tohutohu
To ask someone who did something when the emphasis is on who (or what) did the action, use nā and i. Wai(who?) always follows nā and the verb always follows i.
Look at the following examples.
Nā wai te miraka i inu?
Who drank the milk?
Nā wai ēnei rīhi i horoi?
Who washed these dishes?
To answer the question with a person's name, the wai is replaced with the name, there is both a short and long way to answer the questions. Look at the following examples.
Nā Eruera te miraka i inu. OR Nā Eruera.
Edward drank the milk. OR Edward did.
Nā Wikitoria ēnā rīhi i horoi. OR Nā Wikitoria.
Victoria washed those dishes. OR Victoria did.
