Using ana for exclamations
Ana can be used as a mild exclamation. When ana is used, e does not precede the verb. Generally ana used in this way can be translated as ‘indeed’. Check out the following examples.
Hei tauira:
Koretake ana ngā kaikanikani nei! |
These dancers are indeed useless! |
Nanakia ana ngā kōtiro rā ki te waiata. |
Those girls are awesome singers. |
Reka ana te kakara o ngā putiputi. |
The flowers smell so sweet. |
